Talents You Need as a Graphic Designer - DIGRAPE.com

Talents You Need as a Graphic Designer - DIGRAPE "Diseños Gráficos Peña" - http://digrape.com

The art of graphic design involves a combination of intuition, natural talent, and learned ability. You need to be well-versed in a variety of artistic techniques and you need to know how to use graphic art programs.

Some of the talents that successful designers have include the following (both technological and artistic):

Knowledge of Blending and Contrasting Color Schemes The most talented artists know which colors blend well together and which ones clash. They also know how to make clashing colors blend.

Furthermore, they are often versed in photo editing and photo manipulation. In fact, the best graphic design articles can restore photos that no one would think are useable. This is a talent that can come naturally, however, training is often provided in this area.

Ability to Create a ‘Story’ The type of art that a graphic creates in is the type that sends an intended (or in some cases unintended). Just think of all the popular brands you know and then observe the logo images associated with that brand.

You will notice that a majority of the logo images created for professional businesses truly do represent that company. The reverse is true as well-that a company without a well-defined logo can seem lost or scattered, without a true identity. The great logo designers will help companies portray a certain image-not take away from it.

Must be able to Fulfill the Wishes of the Customer Above learning expensive, challenging photo editing and graphic arts software is the ability to follow the orders of your customer. As long as your customers like your work you will make money.

If they don’t then they won’t. However, keep in mind that you cannot depend too much on your customer’s opinion. You need to also be able to show that you are confident that you can provide a finished product.

Must be able to Make a Lasting Impression This applies to any field that a graphic designer is involved with. Whether a graphic designer’s role is to help establish a corporate brand or to create small carton pictures they need to be designed with an audience in mind.

Must Be Organized-The “O” word (Organization) to any type of visual artist is often a dirty word graphic artists, who are always thought of as the more “responsible” type of artist. In order to be able to finish projects on time graphic artists need to get it together.

Must be Disciplined-The “D” word (Discipline) for some artists is just as dirty as the “O” word. It happens to even the best graphic designers. They get lazy for a few days and forget they have work to do. That is not a good thing.

Must be able to Create Meaning-This aspect is one that involved the concept of lasting impression made earlier. Those who have made a lasting impression by creating computer and visual hand-drawn projects that people remember have created meaning.

These are the cases in which the image designer creates art then means something. Sometimes that meaning cannot be put into tangible words.

Yet, when done right a creative piece of media can say exactly what the visual artist wanted to say. At the same time, this same work when composed properly simultaneously says what the recipient wanted the graphic visual art work to say as well.

One blogger online has mentioned that graphic artists are people who must be able to inspire and entertain as well as communicate accurate and important messages. That is the best way for a designer to make it big with a company or as a freelancer.

The attributes of a designer may be learned in school to some extent. However, even with all the practice in the world one simple fact remains. A designer either has it or the designer is not a designer.
